Why This Is Important
President Obama, Ken Salazar and Dan Ashe,
We strongly oppose the US House of Representative’s passage of H.R. 2584 which makes appropriations for the Dept. of the Interior, environment, and related agencies for 2012. While we agree that our nation needs to live within its means, we are strongly opposed to a number of its provisions, including ideological and political provisions, that are well beyond the scope of funding legislation.
Specifically, U.S. Rep. Lummis (WY) inserted Sec. 119 into this bill which proposes to transfer the control of gray wolves to Wyoming and the Western Great Lakes states once the Dept. of the Interior and these states reach a successful agreement. At present, the proposed wolf-delisting agreement between the DOI and Wyoming is an unacceptable plan because it recklessly removes protections for gray wolves in a manner that will potentially unravel the scientific recovery of wolves across the region. If this wasn’t bad enough, Rep. Lummis’ rider prevents this proposed agreement from being subjected to judicial review.
We assert that judicial review is both important and necessary. It provides a remedy for citizens to address government actions that are illegal and it provides government agencies with a more general incentive to listen to, and take seriously, the suggestions, perspective, and critiques of its constituents.
We painfully recall that the Obama Administration did not oppose a similar "no-litigation" clause inserted by Senator Tester (MT) in the must-pass 2011 budget bill that delisted wolves in five Western states. We believe that this action was woefully misguided since the political and ideological provisions in Sen. Tester’s wolf delisting rider had no place in a spending bill.
Once again, we face a similar dilemma. If President Obama is presented with HR 2584 with the Lummis rider included, we fully expect and support his immediate veto of this bill.

We live in the Bitterroot Mtns of western Montana and have livestock. We stand with the wolf and know that they need to be a part of Montana's and the west wildlife system. What is happening is wholesale assualt and hatred towards this magnificent animals from humans influenced by ranchers profit lines.

Remember Wolf 253... Shot dead in WY the last time Wyoming was briefly given state control of wolves in early 2008.

Dear President Obama,
I know you have a lot on your plate right now, especially with the budget crisis. I fear the issue of this bill may be overlooked amidst the chaos. I beseech you to VETO HR2584, as this bill could cause yet another catastrophic disruption in the order of wildlife, and, inevitably, our ecosystem as well. PLEASE, Mr. Obama, you have the power and responsibility to do the right thing, and We The People are trusting you to make the right decision. It is obvious: VETO HR2584!
Thank you, most sincerely, for your consideration!
